Dear Hollywood Folk That Are Staying At Our House Filming a Show While We Are On Vacation,
Here is a list of things you will need to take care of in our absence:
1) Put our farm dog Annabelle in the barn every evening. She is 110 lbs of muscle and slobber and fur and dewclaws. Watch she doesn't lick you to death.
2) Every morning, let her back out. See warning, above.
3) Feed and water the rabbits in the barn. Keep a sharp lookout for rats. They are watching you and taking notes and just waiting for you to slip up.
4) Feed and water the chickens, and gather the eggs. Do not take your eyes off the spawn of Satan rooster, Big Daddy. He will take you down. He will take you down to Chinatown.
5) Feed and water the cats. Remain vigilant, as they have been waiting for an opportunity to stage a coup.
6) Feed and water the housedogs. You can turn to them as allies if the cats stage an uprising. They won't be of much use, but at least you can say you have allies and that will give you a semblance of security, even if it's a false one.
7) Feed and water the hermit crabs and the hamster and the frog and the cockatiel. They will likely bang their tin cups against the bars of their cages in the event the coup goes down, but they're all talk and no action, so don't let their noise throw you.
Now, as far as food disposal. Don't throw anything out! Throw your apple cores and banana peels over the deck rail for the goats, no peach or cherry pits to them,
old lunchmeat, leftover stew and soup, steak and burger scraps, all that kind of stuff, put in a big bowl for Annabelle, lettuce and carrot scraps save for the rabbits,
for the chickens, here's what I need you to do....crusts and heels of bread, save in a bag for the chickens, you can also give them yogurt and pasta and rice and.....
Wait, where are you going? It's not that complicated, I swear! Come back! We want to go on vacation!
Please...?

We've Gone Amish
I've threatened it from time to time. Going Amish.
But now we've gone fullMonty Amos.
I'm done dealing with
computers and iphones and skype and twitter and bloghops and ipads and texting and tweeting and pinterest
OK, not Pinterest
and cars and kindles and tumblr and youtube and googleplus and linkdin and cameras and smartphones and garage door openers and verizon and landlines and earbuds and bluetooth and flashdrives and facebook and url and html and dvr and tivo and oovoo and facetime and chargers and dm and im and chatrooms and forums and listservs and ezines and clouds.
I have traded my new car Kimmy in for a used harness and buggy for my mare Genevieve.
I have traded all of my cats and most of my dogs for a sturdy milking cow.
My laptop for a milking stool and pail.
All our clothes have been boxed up for Goodwill and I have bought us some second-hand Amish duds.
You think I'm kidding? Have a look-see....
Even my little nephew joined us.
Oops.
Maybe we need a little more work on purging the electronics....
Curious are you? Tune in later and I'll fill you in.

Don't forget, I will love you forever if you throw me a vote on Top Mommy Blogs. You know the drill by now, don't you? Just click the juggling chick and you've voted. You can vote every day till like, forever.
Thanks!

A Tip For Tuesday - Reusing Dry Erase Boards
If you're anything like me, you have a million and one dry erase boards in use. I use them for chore boards, calendars, art boards for the kids, you name it.
Problem is, as quick as I come up with a use for one, I come up with a way to tweak my system. But I usually mark 'em up with Sharpies to make my grids or labels or whatever, so they don't just wipe right off.
They're not the boss of me, though. I learned how to get Sharpie off a dry erase board. And I pass that knowledge onto you now, so you can breathe new life into your wipe-off boards. Just in time for the new school year.
Just like new again.
A blank slate, ready for your organizational genius.

Tiquin'
I love window-shopping for antiques.
Otherwise known as antiquing.
Or, when I can't be bothered to form three full syllables, tiquin'.
I got the chance to go tiquin' a couple days ago, and I was in heaven.
I got to see some really cool old pieces.
Folk-art and rugs.
Creepy things that ought never to have been created.
Paintings of unfortunate looking people.
And it is birthplace and home of the Wyeths.
You know.
Jamie.
N.C.
Andrew.
Andrew, Andrew, Andrew.
I love you.
Will you marry me?
It won't bother me that you're dead.
It won't bother me that you would be 94 if you weren't dead.
I love you.
*************
PS: I apologize for the poor quality of these pictures.
They were taken with my phone.
I do not have an iPhone
waits for the gasps to die down
When I was in college and worked at a bank, I had an older colleague by the name of Lillian who had a phrase: "The only cloth coat in a room of furs".
That's me and my phone. The cloth coat.

PPS: Although I am a fan of Andrew Wyeth's, I will have the honesty to admit to you that I could not be certain if he was dead or alive (if I'd had to bet, I'da put money on dead). Lucky for you, I know how to use the Google on the internet machine so I could do some fact-checking, and I learned that he passed on three years ago at the age of 91.
Integrity. It's my middle name.

Artwork that caused a thin spittle of drool to run down from the corners of my mouth. I felt something akin to hunger pangs when I gazed upon them. It was like looking through the window of a pastry shop. I wanted to cry out, "I'll take the lot!", but alas, I have children to feed.

I don't know if you know this about me, but I am fortunate enough to live near the Brandywine Valley area of PA. Steeped in history it is.
