Woohoo!
Finally got to one of my goals, which was getting 25 pounds off. I'm actually down 26 pounds now, which is 1/3 of my total goal.
Thought I could have accomplished that a little earlier than I did (like end of August), but oh well. Day late and a dollar short.
One thing that certainly helped move me forward was that I was able to begin walking again. I used to walk in the mornings with my friend Debbie, but once I started working in Wilmington that became increasingly harder to do.
But I've just switched to a closer office, so I no longer have to drive 45 minutes or an hour to get to my first patient (I'm an Occupational Therapist working in home care). So when the kids started back to school last week, Debbie and I began walking again.
And I had forgotten what a great weight loss/fitness tool walking can be. I mean, what's not to love? It's free, it can be as challenging or easy as you want it to be depending on your pace and location (hills vs flat), and you can almost always find time to fit at least a little bit of walking in.
For instance, while I did laps in the park for the bulk of my miles, I also walked around soccer fields during practices.
By the end of the week, I had logged just shy of 35 miles.
82,000 steps.
My caseload is beginning to pick up, so I'll have to curtail my walking a bit, but I should still be able to get three miles in most days.
Walking off the rest of the considerable weight that needs to come off.
One foot in front of the other.
Booyaa.
Anyway, that's it for this week. For any of you also on the weight loss path, hope you're doing well. Let me know how things are going for you!

I just started walking again, frustrated with the couple of pounds I've put on over the summer (when I had quit walking!). I only go just under a mile, but it's semi-hiking, and a few ups and downs so it's something. I'm glad to be back at it. 3 miles a day is inspiring. I do want to add some trails out back so maybe I can get myself a longer loop!
ReplyDeleteThat's the hard part, Sarah, sticking with it, right? I definitely did not walk much over the summer. Over the last six months, really. But with my new job, I have time in the mornings now. So glad for it! Love that you can "add some trails" at your place. Need a new place to walk? Why, just add some trails!
DeleteI am making it sound easier than it is! The fortunate thing is that there are already trails that the previous owners made, so some of them just need cleaning up, and then if I cut down some stuff I can connect them. I hope! With the kids back in school it's definitely easier to fit the walk into a routine, whereas the summer doesn't hold much of a routine at all. Congrats on the 25lbs by the way! I forgot to say so before!
DeleteWhat a great accomplishment! Congratulations! Every goal met is an accomplishment! Here's to your continued success! :) Stopping by from SITS! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteAwesome loss so far! It may take a while but you'll get reach your goal before you know it.
ReplyDeleteI know the end of the weight loss will be harder than the beginning, but I have faith. Thanks!
DeleteI enjoy walking, I recently started a job where I walk alot, I couldn't believe I lost weight as soon as I started working, I wasn't even trying. But I think you need to make it a more purposeful walk than I was.
