Hahaha! Never thought about that, but it is true!
ReplyDeleteHi Anne. Thank you for visiting my blog! About the quilting... long ago I made a regular pieced quilt, from a book and it was nice, but didn't catch my imagination. Last year, I made this:

I just figured it out as I went along. Of course, the internet is a wonderful source. I LOVE YouTube! :)
The quilt I've started now was inspired by this nice book:
http://www.amazon.com/Gentle-Art-Quiltmaking-Projects-Inspired/dp/B009F7KV76/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1358780383&sr=1-1&keywords=the+gentle+art+of+quilt+making
At this time, I don't have any interest in doing what so many do with the quilt blocks from a formula. I don't have the funds to do that, really, and just need to use things I have on hand and what I can get wherever on sale. Thrift store and garage sale clothing is a great source of fabrics! :D
Don't be afraid of quilting. Do something small! Make a little square pillow cover or some such thing to begin. I will be posting as I go with this new quilt. I hope it isn't a disaster!
p.s. I also have done just a little paper piece quilting, and that lends itself to using up bits I have, and it's fun! And easy! For Christmas I got this book:
