Cancer Sucks

I don't know what else to say about it.

I woke up this morning to the sad news that my cousin was dying of cancer.

The last time I called my cousin,it was to cry incoherently to him over the phone to tell him how sorry I was that they were waiting on his seven year old son to die. Little Max died later that day. Of cancer.

But a few hours later this morning, before I could figure out what number to call and when would be the "best time" to reach out to him to tell him goodbye, I got the call from my aunt that he had passed.

Cancer sucks.

Goodbye Russ. We didn't keep in touch as much as we should have, but I love you and I'll miss you. I know your wife and your two beautiful children will miss you, as will all your family (even us Yankees). Hug Max for me in heaven, and your Dad, and my brother. Give them all my love...

  4. I am so sorry, I know that is really unoriginal, but I am not sure what else to say. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

  6. You said what I was feeling, but had no words for. Cancer is a thief and robber of lives, and knows no boundaries. It seeks up and robs the world of some of it's finest leaving the rest of us to wonder.....Why? He is now with many loving angels who will hold him tightly in their arms. I will always hold him tightly in my heart.

  8. So sorry for your loss. Maybe his soul just decided it needed to be with Max while his wife stayed behind for the other two kids. Crazy to just find out and then he was gone in the blink of an eye like that! Not sure if he had it for a while and the news just trickled to you or whether it came as much of a shock to his wife, etc. That would be really horrible. Terrible timing too, with the holidays coming up. That always makes it harder. {HUGS}

  9. I had surgery recently for melanoma. It is a huge drag. Seriously... and the continued weird looks and comments for my scar, luckily, have become something of a joke to me. Oh, the stories I could tell.

    I am so sorry to hear your cousin died - and so suddenly.

    Thoughts and prayers with you - - (this is my first visit from the Weekend Social Hop.)

  10. Just wanted to thank everyone for all the kind words. Chris, you might be onto something. Maybe Max just really needed his Daddy.
