4 weddings, a communion and a confirmation. God willing, no funerals.
Our social calendar is getting pretty full, and it's only February. We have all of the above betweeen March and October. But hey, it's a great way for our two new kids to get to meet all the 3rd cousins twice removed that we didn't even know we were related to. AND, I'll get my money's worth out of the dress clothes I'll need to buy them. Usually if I had to buy them a pair of dress shoes, they'd get worn to the one event and then become a breeding hutch for dust bunnies in the bottom of the closet. So this year the jackets and ties and nice pants and decent shoes and dresses will get to be worn again and again. And again ....
I can hear the kids now in July, "Mommmmmmm, this black wool dress is too hot!" "You'll wear it and you'll like it. Now turn around so I can do up your buttons".
Ha! Visiting from TALU. "You'll wear it and you'll like it"! The words of mothers everywhere! :)

How lucky for you that all of those things happened at the same time. We don't buy dress shoes unless we have to. Actually for my third child's first communion, I completely forgot to. He wore tennis shoes. I hate spending money on things they will only wear once.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!! Poor baby in the itchy wooly dress. But glad for you that nothing will go to waste.
ReplyDeleteIsn't wool an all season material? Thanks for hosting TALU, Anne.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from TALU. I bought my three-year old new dress shoes for his Granny's funeral and he refused to wear them (he has some sensory issues and is on the autism spectrum). So my little boy paid his last respects to my husband's mother in a pair of socks. I'm ok with it. :)
ReplyDeleteand this is why all wedding should be outdoor BBQs where the kiddos can wear shorts!
ReplyDeleteThat IS convenient from a wardrobe point of view. And great that you have so much family to connect with. Hilarious picture, too, by the way. Happy TALU!
ReplyDeleteI think Aki has a point! When the kids were little I used to have them help me make their special dresses. No I'm not that spiffy of a seamstress. But they grow so fast! And I didn't feel that guilty about re-purposing them into doll clothes and such. TALU-ho!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great comments, everyone! We really did luck out that year. We're not usually so fortunate with having everything clumped together like that. Lara, I agree, Aki has an excellent point: outdoor BBQ weddings! The more things that are casual, the better, in my book!
