Heat Wave + Bored Teen Girls = Katy Perry Movie

I love the movies.
Always have.
Always will.

And I love it even more than usual when we're smack-dab in the middle of a blinkin' heat wave.

So yesterday, I took my girls (and niece Amanda) to see the Katy Perry movie.

I like Katy Perry, I do. But if I'd had my druthers, I would have chosen a different flick.

You Moms know, I don't need to tell you: we rarely get our druthers.

Anyway, I went, and I have to say...

I LIKED it.

I have my problems with Katy Perry where role models for young girls are concerned. But she saves herself in my eyes with her song "Firework", as that's about as inspirational a song for my daughters as a Mom could hope for.

Anyway, I actually found myself crying at the sad parts. Can you say dipping hormone levels? Crying. At a Katy Perry movie.

That's unheard of, right? Tell me that's unheard of.

Anyway, I'm over it now. I pretended I got some popcorn salt in my eye, amd I wiped a tear and pulled up my big girl britches and moved on.

Now if you'll excuse me, Fred got me an iPod for our anniversary, and I need to go download a few tunes.....

  1. That's funny Anne! You are cooler than I am tho...I don't know who Katy Perry is...I live in a bubble and they don't let me come out much! Judging by her AWESOME dress in the picture above...I'm thinkin' I'm not missin' much:) SheaWOW! am glad you got to get out with your girls. I am sure they LOVED it. Have a great day

  2. I think crying is the bravest thing, especially in public. You may have dipping hormone levels but you also have compassion, sympathy and a big, soft, pink heart which is so much more than more than the other half of the population. That’s something to be very proud of. Chloe was trying to drag me out to KP but ran out of time as I’m leaving for E. She’s threatening her boyfriend with it now!

  3. @Rachelle: haha! We did have a good time. And I actually do like Katy Perry, just don't think all her lyrics are the most appropriate for young girls.
@Veronica: Idk how much a boyfriend would enjoy the KP movie, as it's definitely more of a chick-flick, but it is pretty inspirational in terms of her following her dreams and working so hard and all.
